World’s first eye transplant (Intermediate)
In New York, surgeons achieved something incredible by completing the first whole-eye transplant in a person.
The surgery lasted for 21 hours and was a major success. However, Aaron James, the person who underwent the transplant, still can't see with his new eye because it hasn't connected with his brain yet. Despite this, the eye seems to be healthy, with blood flowing through the vessels. Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez is very excited about this historic achievement. Many doctors never believed this kind of transplant would be possible.
Aaron had an electrical accident at work that injured a part of his face. Scientists are hopeful that this groundbreaking success will pave the way for more successful eye transplants in the future.
